CAPE OLD TIMERS SOFTBALL LEAGUE
2008 Cape Cod Senior Softball Classic

The fifteenth annual Cape Cod Senior Softball Classic will again be hosted by the Cape Old Timers Softball League in September, 2008. In addition to the games, the participating players and their families are also provided an excellent opportunity to enjoy Cape Cod, an internationally acclaimed vacation destination. (Click here for vacation ideas and information: www.capecodchamber.org.)

This year's tournament, which is a "non-qualifier", is limited to teams rated AAA or less by the National Senior Softball Summit Ratings Committee (www.softballrating.com). Unrated teams may be accepted at the sole discretion of the Tournament Committee. The games will be played in four age groups: 60+, 65+, 70+ and 75+. The 60+ and 65+ teams will play on Friday thru Sunday, September 5th, 6th and 7th, and the 70+ and 75+ teams will play on Monday thru Wednesday, September 8th, 9th and 10th. 60+ Division plays in Yarmouth, 65+ Division plays in Harwich, 70+ Division plays in Harwich, 75+ Division plays in Yarmouth. A total of four seeding games are played on days one and two of the respective schedules, and the third day of each schedule will be single elimination competitions for the Division Championships. Each team is thus guaranteed a minimum of five games, weather permitting. In case of rain, every effort will be made to play as many games as possible. The Guidelines and Rules of Play have additional information on bad weather contingency plans.

All teams must meet the age requirements of their age division with absolutely no exceptions. A competitor's age is determined by the year in which he was born. For example, if his birth year was 1948, he is determined to be 60 years old for this tournament; if his birth year is 1943, he is determined to be 65 years old, etc. Random age checks may be made before any game by any tournament official or umpire. Players should have a valid driver's license with them for this purpose. The 75+ Division teams will be allowed five 74 year old players on their rosters.

The Entry Fee for the 2008 Classic is $375.00 per team. Priority invitations for last year's eligible teams were sent out Tuesday, June 3, 2008. New team applications may be requested by contacting the Tournament Director by US Mail or e-mail at the adresses below. This year's prizes are a) Team trophies for 1st and 2nd place, and b) Championship T-shirts for Division winners.
