The COC is a source of enormous useful and interesting information. How many 'locals' have been puzzled by the pleasant chimes of the old town clock in Wellfleet, or would be able to interpret the 'ringing'? Here goes, from the 1998 COC booklet....."One, five and nine o'clock are 'two bells'. Two, six and ten o'clock are 'four bells'. Four, eight and twelve o'clock are 'eight bells'. And the half hours are struck by adding one stroke to the corresponding even hours". Now, you know.
Most local libraries will have 'summer hours', and special 'storytimes' for children (daytime as well as evening), and book discussion groups for adults. It would be wise to check them out, and also to inquire about the availability of museum passes to Cape Cod Discovery Museum in Dennisport, Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster, the Computer Museum in Boston, Heritage Plantation in Sandwich, the Museum of Science and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth.

For free copy of this pamphlet, you can call 508-362-2511, extension 330, or drop by the office in Barnstable Village.
